GrasmereGrasmere is considered by many to be the most beautiful spot in the English Lake District. Year after year hundreds of thousands of people converge on this small village. Many of them are seeking the atmosphere breathed by the 19th century romantic Lake Poets, and especially William Wordsworth. Dove Cottage, for several years the poet's home before he moved a few miles south to Rydal Mount, is just outside the village itself. It must be one of the most photographed small buildings in the world and now has a Wordsworth research centre associated with in adjacent buildings.. Not only poets, but also painters have revelled in the beauties of this landscape. Grasmere is home to the gallery of the Heaton Cooper family with its several generations of Lake District artists.
